NO CHANGES TO SUPERANNUATION RETIREMENT AGE

Will the Government make 67 years the universal age of retirement?

Treasury Secretary Ken Henry recommended it, the Budget announcements hinted at it, but now the Government has squashed the idea and publicly acknowledged it will not change the preservation age to 67.

When asked about the idea in an interview, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said “?we have absolutely no plans to do that.”

The preservation age is legislated to increase to 60 in 2024.
